LG has yet to officially reveal anything about the company’s launch of a foldable phone. Instead of launching a smartphone with a foldable screen, the company presented a long-suffering dual-screen solution, the LG G8X ThinQ that comes with a detachable dual-screen design.

Many smartphone manufacturers introduced their foldable smartphones last year, which include Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X and Motorola RAZR. LG has yet to officially reveal anything about the company’s launch of a foldable phone.

Instead of launching a smartphone with a foldable screen, the company presented a long-suffering dual-screen solution, the LG G8X ThinQ that comes with a detachable dual-screen design. Although the company confirmed the development of a foldable phone and even patented some phones with a similar design, nothing has materialized so far.

After patenting the smartphone with a pull-out and roll-up screen, LG has now patented a new smartphone design that features an immersive screen. This is clearly similar to the Mi MIX Alpha but with a flexible screen and more screen / body ratio.

The patent for the LG screen smartphone also includes several images, which show that, in addition to a thick margin of the frame at the top, very thin margins at the bottom, left and right.

The top panel contains dual camera sensors, with an LED flash. Although there is no margin on the right side, the screen continues towards that side and surrounds the rear panel. Interestingly, there will be no cameras at the rear, as the screen extends to the rear panel. Instead, it looks like the sensors in the front would be used as rear cameras.

In the documentation, it is not yet clear how the screen will be fixed in place, but we will probably have some magnetic mechanism. It is also possible to remove the extensible flexible screen from the compartment at the press of a button.

When the device is closed, there are two screens on the device – one on the front and one on the back. after the device is open, the phone becomes a tablet with a larger screen. The speaker grid is visible at both the top and bottom, together with a microphone. There is a USB-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom and a power button on the top.

The Mobile World Congress 2020 will be held in Barcelona, Spain next month and Samsung and Huawei will present second generation folding devices – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Huawei Mate Xs. It remains to be seen whether LG will take the stage to present experimental smartphones at MWC 2020.
