American research group says acne vaccine may come soon

It was a research group, made up of American researchers, who said that the solution to this problem affecting much of the world’s population seems to have been finally discovered. According to this group, the solution will be available within just a few years.

This team of scientists at the University of California, San Diego, United States, has now developed a vaccine, which promises to eradicate acne effectively and permanently. And according to the indication given by the group, future generations may no longer have to deal with this cutaneous condition.

Eric C. Huang, leader of the research project, told Allure magazine that the next step, even before the product is marketed, is to test the vaccine on humans. This group has already performed tests on acne skin that were collected in biopsies.

Still, scientists have faced some difficulties, eliminating the bacteria that causes the appearance of acne, could not be the solution. Acne is caused in part by the bacterium P. acnes that is in people throughout life and we could not create a vaccine for the bacterium because in some ways P. acnes is good for people”, he revealed. So, Eric C. Huang, leader of this research project.

Therefore, the main goal of this vaccine is to control and reduce the symptoms of acne bacteria in the skin.

The vaccine we hope to get in the near future, explains the same article, will block the negative effects of acne bacteria without eliminating it. “We discovered an antibody against a toxic protein that P. acnes bacteria secrete into the skin. Protein is associated with the inflammation that leads to acne”, explained Eric C. Huang.

This new discovery could change the lives of millions of people and could even represent a global business. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, more than 50 million Americans suffer from acne.
